The skull base community gathered in December 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa, for the 18th World Congress of Neurosurgery, sponsored by the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), presided by Congress president Dr. Graham Fieggen and with 2,000 attendees. A pre-congress skull base masterclass organized by Dr. David Roytowski was a great success. The Skull base program was intense with 3.5 hours of daily discussions. It was organized by this subcommittee in association of the Skull Base Committee of the World Federation and had the participation of several members of the Tumor Section.

We enter 2024 with the 33rd Annual Meeting of the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) on February 16-18, 2023, in Atlanta, Ga., presided by Dr. Siviero Agazzi and program co-chairs Drs. Donato Pacione and Shirley Su. Focused on the theme, The Skull Base is Flat, the meeting highlights how skull base surgeons and societies around the world have flattened the field of skull base surgery, making it more accessible and safer to all.

We continue to focus on What Matters in May for the 2024 AANS Annual Meeting in Chicago, Ill. Practical Clinics and Sessions intertwine applications of skull base techniques and philosophies with neuro-oncology care, collectively strengthening neurosurgical strategies.

We look forward to seeing colleagues and meeting new friends in upcoming events!
