The AANS/CNS Section on Tumors Global Neurosurgery sub-committee has recently hosted a successful and engaging Joint meeting with the Mexican Neurosurgery Society Challenges in Brain Tumor Management: Case Discussion on June 13, 2023, with great case-based discussion for both intra-axial and skull base tumors. Many thanks to Drs. Barbara Nettel, Sergio Moreno, Dan Cahill, Jose Valerio Pasqua, Diego Rosito and Daniel Prevedello for their contributions. There are further meetings planned in the coming months, including a joint AASNS/CNS Section and WFNS webinar Glioblastoma International Awareness Day on July 19, 2023, with many thanks to Dr. Sameh El Morsey, Egypt, for the initiative. A joint hybrid meetingwith the Society for Neuro-Oncology in Sub-Saharan Africa (SNOSSA), will take place on July 20, 2023. The wider SNOSSA conference has the theme of Optimizing Neuro-Oncology Outcomes in Sub-Saharan Africa, and the hybrid meeting will leverage on-site faculty with case discussions and expert presentations on Brain Tumor Diagnosis and Care. We thank Drs. Beverly Cheserem and James Balogan for their leadership in this initiative.
These meetings have gone a long way to fulfill our remit – building bridges to advance the surgical care of brain and spine tumor patients across the globe. We particularly thank Dr. Germano for her support, leadership and contribution to these meetings. Planning continues for face-to-face symposiums at Serbia’s Centennial Meeting in Belgrade in November 2023, WFNS in Capetown in December 2023, EANS 2024, the AASNS Congress in Taiwan 2024, the Society of Neuro-Oncology Sub-Saharan Africa.
We thank the members of the AANS/CNS Joint Tumor Section who have contributed to these programs – we will certainly be asking for your help in the future!
