Early Career Neurosurgeons Committee (ECNS)

Co-Chairs: Stephanie Cheok, MD and Christian Bowers, MD
Members: Raj Mukherjee, MD, PhD and Randy D’Amico, MD

We welcome a new academic year and Dr. Christian Bowers and Dr. Stephanie Cheok are honored to co-chair the Early Career Neurosurgeons Committee (ECNC). This year’s theme Imagine, Innovate, Inspire fittingly represents the goal of aspiring and young neurosurgeons as they navigate their early profession. We look forward to continuing the legacy of organized neurosurgery in supporting both personal and career-oriented growth of medical students, residents, fellows and neurosurgeons in the initial steps of their career.

Please join us at the AANS/CNS Section on Tumor Symposium on Saturday, September 9, at 5:00 pm for the interactive breakout Sessions!

Another opportunity available for young neurosurgeons is the Chris Philips Honor Your Mentor Fund – an NREF grant launched by the ECNC with the purpose of “advancing medical student mentorship, research, education and participation in organized neurosurgery.” For more information and to donate please visit: https://www.nref.org/ways-to-give/Honor-Your-Mentor-Funds/YNC-Chris-Philips-Fund

Recently, Dr. Melanie Hayden Gephart, MD, MAS, professor of Neurosurgery and director of the Stanford Brain Tumor Center, presented her monumental efforts to and success in integrating and expanding multiple facets of Stanford’s brain tumor program, particularly in research and education.
