Co-Chairs: Tiffany R. Hodges, MD and Michael Lim, MD, FAANS

The 2022 CNS Tumor Sessions were designed to provide an update on two rapidly growing areas of neurosurgical oncology.

On Monday, October 10, the “Intraprocedural delivery of adjuvant treatments for brain and spine tumors” session will cover important advances and technical aspects of intraoperative delivery for brain and spine tumors. This session starts with an update on the Tumor Section by our chair, Isabelle Germano, MD, FANS, FACS, followed by presentations on intraoperative radiation therapy, microbubble ultrasound and laser thermal therapy for spine. Top scoring oral abstracts and awards will also be presented during this session.

On Tuesday, October 1, given new translational research discoveries, we developed the “Precision Medicine for Primary and Secondary Brain Tumors” session. Invited speakers will discuss the latest on CAR T cells, Organoid based therapy, and precision medicine for pediatric tumors. Top scoring oral abstracts and awards will also be presented during this session.

Additional highlights of the 2022 CNS Scientific Program specific to Tumors include Frontiers in Skull Base Surgery Symposium in collaboration with the North American Skull Base Society. We also will be offering sessions relevant to the tumor neurosurgeon’s practice such as “Mapping and Monitoring of Tumors in Eloquent areas”, “Intraprocedural Delivery of Adjuvant Treatments for Brain and Spine tumors” and “Multidisciplinary Treatment of spine metastasis.”   We also will be providing updates on brain tumor management for the advanced practice provider.  Our guideline session will be on Progressive Glioblastoma.
