To foster partnership within the neurosurgical oncology community and beyond, we started a novel initiative called “Headlines.” This program, a monthly live streamed webinar, brings together leaders in the brain and spine tumor community to give insight into their professional journeys and contributions, as well as their personal lives.
In each program, Drs. Germano, Nahed and Pannullo host a group of panelists selected from the Section on Tumors Executive Committee. Each panelist introduces a paired “partner” who then presents one slide about their work. A second slide highlights their background, family, hobbies and interests and concludes with a series of true/false questions provided by the featured guest, prompting audience participation – all with the goal of getting to know one another both in and outside of the field of neurosurgical oncology.

As we head into the 2022 CNS Annual Scientific Meeting, the Development and Partnerships Committee reflects upon the meeting theme of “Neurosurgery Connected.” The Headlines programs have connected neurosurgical leaders in a new and exciting way. Through this series, relationships have formed, and participants have developed a stronger appreciation for the unique talents and qualities of our colleagues as we strive to improve our research, education and clinical care efforts in the brain and spine tumor space.
