We are happy to share the Spring 2023 edition of the AANS/CNS Section on Tumors Newsletter. This year’s AANS Annual Scientific Meeting theme is “Neurosurgeons as Advocates.” Advocacy is a core aspect in any field of medicine and surgery. Neurosurgery has a long history of advocacy on many levels, exemplified by the amazing work done by the Tumor Section as highlighted in this newsletter. Surgeons have advocated for our patients, through updated guidelines, improved patient education and patient access to health care, as well as national policy changes . Simultaneously, we have advocated for our physicians and caregivers: focusing on breaking down barriers to deliver patient care, addressing educational discrepancies globally and working on wellness initiatives to improve physician mental health and decrease burn-out. We appreciate the subcommittee for participating in updating our membership on the Tumor Section and look forward to fruition of many of these efforts.
