The skull base community opens the year with the 32nd annual meeting of the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS) to be held February 17-19, 2023, in Tampa, Florida, presided by Dr. Lee Zimmer and Program co-chairs Drs. Donato Pacione and Arturo Solares. Focused on the theme “NASBS: Friends and Family”, we anticipate another lively gathering of multi-disciplinary experts across neurosurgery, otolaryngology/head and neck surgery, plastics surgery, radiology, ophthalmology, pathology and myriad other specialties contributing to the skull base field. This meeting draws in a new video abstract format and presentation platform, expanded time dedicated to Women in Skull Base Surgery and networking opportunities, and reflects on the social, economic, technical and technological influences on skull base surgery.
Bridging the strata of career progression, plans are underway to unfold a “Building Your Practice” webinar series to encourage discourse on the many facets of practice building as a joint effort between the Tumor Section and NASBS.
At the end of this year, the broader circle of skull base surgeons will gather at the 18th World Congress of Neurosurgery, sponsored by the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies in December 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa.
We look forward to another exciting year together, defining the boundaries of possible as offered by the melding of skull base techniques with neuro-oncology treatment strategies.
