Section on Tumor Session 1

Aligned with the meeting theme Neurosurgeons as Advocates, the first session entitled: “Advancing Neurosurgery Oncology Through Advocacy” was developed to highlight how we as a community of neurosurgical oncology neurosurgeons can advocate for our patients leading multiple activities. These include but are not limited to initiatives led by the Tumor Section, the Washington Committee, the neurosurgical community, ad collaborative efforts with National Institutes of Health, clinical trials and diversification of the workforce.

This session will be followed by abstract presentation by the Tumor Section Awardees and conclude with an interactive session on Controversies in Management of Brain Metastases.

Section on Tumor Session 2

The second session entitled: “Improving Outcome and Quality of Life for Brain and Spine Tumor Patients” is aimed at reviewing exciting updates on how to accomplish these goals by utilizing AI, outcome data base, novel resection-free techniques, intra-operative adjuncts personalized treatment, integrated nomograms and more in the care of our brain and spine tumor patients.

This session will be followed by an abstract presentation by the Tumor Section Awardees and conclude with an interactive session on Sellar Tumor Challenges.

“Tumor and Neuro Oncology Community”

The Tumor Section collaborated with the 2023 AANS Scientific Program Committee to provide speakers to highlight pertinent aspect of everyday practice on tumor topics including pituitary adenomas, meningiomas, gliomas, and acoustic neuromas.
