Secretary’s Message

Welcome to the Winter 2020 Young Neurosurgeons Committee newsletter!

In this issue, we highlight YNC news from the 2019 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting in San Diego and provide updates on issues important to young neurosurgeons, from medical students to early career neurosurgeons.

Highlights for our medical students in the midst of the residency application process include a summation of recent publications describing the current state of the neurosurgical match and a spotlight on the AANS Medical Student Chapter at the University of Wisconsin. Other select highlights from this issue include recent updates on the prevention and mitigation of burnout in neurosurgical residents, a discussion on the transition of the neurosurgery training accreditation process in Canada and a unique perspective on the rise of ambulatory spine surgery and the ramification for early providers. YNC section highlights and book reviews pertinent to early career neurosurgeons are also presented.

Please provide feedback on anything you would like to see in the newsletter or submit article ideas via email to Walavan.sivakumar@gmail.com.

On with the show!

Sincerely,
