2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of WINS. To celebrate, WINS held a virtual cocktail party on the audiovisual interactive Zoom platform. The event, held virtually on October 22, 2020, was a fun-filled evening celebrating a historic 30 years. The agenda included a welcome introduction by WINS Chair Dr. Martina Stippler, followed by discussion of what happened 30 years ago, at the foundation of the WINS group, by Dr. Deborah Benzil. Several of the founding members of WINS, including Drs. Benzil, Karin Muraszko and Gail Rosseau, were in attendance. The event also featured the premiere of the 30 Year WINS AANS Celebration Video, featuring a walk through the history of women pioneers in neurosurgery, history of the WINS group and various achievements of WINS members and women leaders in the field.
The celebration continued with the appearance of a mixologist who walked the audience through creating the ultimate Old Fashioned. With beverage of choice prepared, the evening continued in small group chat rooms, allowing for smaller scale informal discussions among attendees. The evening capped with an adjourning message from WINS Chair-Elect Dr. Ellen Air.
