Following a successful inaugural 2021-2022 season, WINS is excited to announce the following updates to the WINS Mentorship Program. This is the first year that activities have been tailored for each level of training in neurosurgery from medical students to residents. All medical students are sorted into groups lead by resident mentors, and all residents are sorted into groups led by attending mentors. M1 and M2 students will take part in a new, specialized curriculum meant to expose them to different subspecialties in neurosurgery (WINS Group A). Topics will follow “Essential Neurosurgery for Medical Students” published in Operative Neurosurgery. M3 and M4 students preparing to apply into neurosurgical residency will engage in targeted ERAS application preparation (WINS Group B). These include mock interviews and personal statement preparation. At the resident level, we have seen a record increase in applications for the WINS Mentorship Program to be paired with prominent attendings for networking and career planning. All meetings take place over zoom and run from August 2022 to July 2023. We anticipate another successful year and appreciate all those involved in making the program a success.
