Journal of Neuro-Oncology

The Journal of Neuro-Oncology (JNO) is the official journal of the AANS/CNS Tumor Section. Several other prominent organizations also help to sponsor the journal. These include the Radiosurgery Society (RSS), the Indian Society of Neuro-Oncology (ISNO), Chinese Society of Neuro-Oncology, European Association of Neurological Societies (EANS), the Grupo Interdisciplinario Mexicano de Investigacion en Neuro-Oncologia (GIMINO), the Korean Neurological Society, Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS), Society of Neuro-Oncology Latin Amerca (SNOLA) and the Taiwan Society for Neuro-Oncology (TSNO). JNO is published 15 times per year.

Last year, JNO received a record number of submissions. The latest impact factor for the JNO is 3.27.

JNO’s social media following has also grown. There is currently:

  • Facebook followers: 2,760 (up from 1290 a year ago)
  • Twitter followers: 2,331 (up from 1170 in April 2019)
  • Instagram followers: 1,969 (up from 0 a year ago)
  • Facebook Reach: 27,000 people/month.

Special thanks to Dr. Mehta and Shepard for their help with the JNO social media sites. Also, Dr. Randy D’Amico has launched a very popular JNO weekly webinar featured on Youtube.

A special issue edited by Dr. Justin Lee for the Taiwan Society for Neuro-Oncology was published earlier this year. A special issue on skull base surgery is underway by editors Drs. DeMonte and Mehta. Other special issues currently in development include Dr. Aghi for the Tumor Section 35th Anniversary and Dr. Rahman and Dr. Parney on immunotherapy for neuro-oncology. There is also a pediatric neuro-oncology issue by Drs. Khatua and Gopalakrishnan and a new glioblastoma guidelines issue underway with Dr. Olson.
