New Officers

The AANS/CNS Section of Neurotrauma and Critical Care is proud to announce the slate of newly elected officers for the 2022-2024 term:

 

 

Chair: P.B. Raksin, MD, FAANS

Dr. Raksin is the neurosurgery lead and director of the Neurosurgery ICU at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. Dr. Raksin brings many years of organized neurosurgery experience to the role of section chair. She has been an advocate for acute care neurosurgery throughout her career and has edited the successful neurotrauma text “Atlas of Emergency Neurosurgery”, and the newly published “Acute Care Neurosurgery by Case Management: Pearls and Pitfalls”.

 

Martina StipplerChair-Elect: Martina Stippler, MD, FAANS

Dr. Stippler is the neurotrauma director and vice chief of neurosurgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. Dr. Stippler has held many leadership positions in academic medicine and organized neurosurgery, including being a member of the executive committee of the CNS since 2016.

 

 

 

 

Paul ArnoldSecretary-Treasurer: Paul Arnold, MD, FAANS, FACS

Dr. Arnold is the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Carle Foundation Hospital and professor of Neurosurgery at Carle Illinois College of Medicine.

 

 

 

 

 

Ryan S. KitagawaMember-at-Large: Ryan S. Kitagawa, MD, FAANS

Dr. Kitagawa is the neurotrauma director and an associate professor at UTHealth in Houston, TX. He has been a member of the AANS/CNS Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care for more than 10 years.

 

 

 

 

 

J. Adair PrallMember-at-Large: J. Adair Prall, MD, FAANS, FACS

Dr. Prall is the director of neurotrauma at Littleton Adventist Hospital and senior partner at Neurosurgery One in Littleton, CO.  He has served in numerous leadership positions in organized neurosurgery, including being a founding member of the AANS/CNS Joint Guidelines Committee, serving on the AANS Board of Directors and chairing the CSNS Neurotrauma Committee.

 

 

 

These new officers carry on the work of Dr. David Okonkwo (chair), Eve Tsai (Secretary/treasurer), and Uzma Samadani (member-at-large) who served as officers from 2020-2022.
