With the long-awaited return of in-person meetings and conferences, the WINS community celebrated together at the WINS Anniversary Celebration and WINS Reception on Sunday, October 17, 2021, during the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Meeting in Austin, Texas. The WINS community had the opportunity to get together and celebrate in person, reminiscing about the recent WINS anniversary, meeting new members, and networking.
The celebration included an informal gathering allowing WINS community members to mingle and network during the reception. During the event, Dr. Ellen Air, WINS Chair, spoke to the group welcoming everyone to the event and also taking the opportunity to introduce the winners of the new CNS Foundation Future Women Leaders in Neurosurgery Scholarship, Dr. Beverly Cheserem, Dr. Kimberly Hoang, and Dr. Sylvia Shitsama. The event was very well attended. Attendees included some of the original founding members of the group including Dr. Deborah Benzel, Dr. Karin Muraszko, and Dr. Gail Rosseau. The group was diverse and included medical students, residents, as wll as young faculty. The event was a welcome reintroduction to in-person events and allowed attendees to meet and greet new members and follow up with the community.
