- There are currently 42 functional fellowships, 25 of which are CAST accredited. CAST has transitioned to ABNS and is in the process of re-accrediting programs; however, 17 advertised functional fellowships are not yet accredited. All have been encouraged to apply and several applications are in process.
- Case minimums have been established as follows: 20 DBS (any indication), 20 generator replacements, 10 VNS, 5 Spinal Cord Stimulation, 10 epilepsy craniotomy for monitoring/investigation, 10 epilepsy craniotomy for treatment and 5 trigeminal neuralgia.
- Per CAST policy, enfolded fellowships are allowed only for senior residents after completion of their chief residency year.
