The scientific program for the 2022 AANS Annual meeting was designed by Drs. Nelson Moss, Georgios Zenonos, and Randy D\u2019Amico. They have done an outstanding job of organizing the Tumor Section content for the meeting. The meeting features Dr. William Couldwell as the 2022 Bitner Lecturer. The Young Neurosurgeon session will include a presentation by Dr. Isaac Yang.<\/p>\n<p>Our 2021 Tumor Satellite meeting was a tremendous success at all levels including scientific content, engagement, and development. Dr. Edward Laws was the honored guest. The Andy T. Parsa mentorship award recipient was Dr. L. Dade Lunsford. Dr. Mitchel Berger received the Tumor Section\u2019s Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Alfredo Quinones received the Charles B. Wilson Award. The meeting achieved tremendous corporate support which helps to insure a stable financial foundation for the Tumor Section in the years to come.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the 2022 AANS annual meeting, my term as chair will conclude. While the term was largely overshadowed by the COVID pandemic, we were able to prove resourceful in launching webinars such as Tumor Talk, online CME offerings, and online educational outreach to other countries (e.g. LATTE). We also partnered with outside organizations including the Southern Brain Tumor Foundation and the National Brain Tumor Society to expand research, education, and brain tumor advocacy. The Tumor Section also offered a neuro-oncology focused session during the 2022 CNS Professional Development Course. The Section\u2019s journal, the Journal of Neuro-Oncology, also reached new heights in terms of its impact factor, number of submissions, and global reach. I am confident that the Tumor Section is in good standing.
