As the Congress of Neurological Surgeons 2022 Meeting is around the corner, we have a fantastic opportunity to highlight the neurotrauma and neurocritical care offerings for section members. The meeting begins with symposia on both weekend days, including a symposium on Saturday morning on the comprehensive management of spinal trauma, which will be shared with the Spine Section. Once again, thanks to excellent attendance from last year and fantastic feedback, the symposium on \u201cCutting-Edge Treatments in Neurotrauma\u201d will return on Saturday, October 8. \u201cNeurotrauma Across the Lifespan and Around the World\u201d is a highlighted symposium for Sunday, October 9, which is a new offering. This full-day symposium brings together international experts to present their unique perspectives on neurotrauma management, highlighting challenges faced in their environments and offering insights on best practices and improving outcomes for patients.<\/p>\n

The Scientific Program Committee for CNS is proud to have reviewed a record number of abstracts for the meeting, with the highest scored abstracts receiving the opportunity to be presented to a live audience during each day of the meeting. On the afternoon of Monday, October 10, Ann Parr, MD, PhD, FAANS, FRCSC, will give the distinguished Charles Tator Lecture, followed by David Okonkwo, MD, PhD, FAANs, outgoing chair of the AANS\/CNS Section of Neurotrauma\/Neurocritical Care, delivering the Miller Lecture.<\/p>\n

Other highlights include \u201cCrossfire Debates in Neurotrauma\u201d on the afternoon of Monday, October 10, and \u201cMy Worst Complication in Neurosurgery for Trauma\u201d on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 11. Finally, we have two fantastic Lunch seminars on Wednesday, October 12: \u201cPerspectives on Global Neurosurgery\u201d will offer a glimpse into neurotrauma in lower and middle income countries (LMICs), as well as discussing how neurosurgeons and neurosurgical trainees can get involved in efforts to improve neurosurgical care in LMICs. Finally, \u201cNeurotrauma as a Team Sport\u201d is a fantastic seminar in which neurotrauma experts with subspecialty training in peripheral nerve, cerebrovascular, skull base, and neurocritical care, will come together to discuss and offer perspectives on the modern, multi-disciplinary care of the polytrauma patient.<\/p>\n
