2019 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting Summary

Under the leadership of Chair Dr. Manish Aghi, MD, PhD, FAANS, the Tumor Section scientific program at the 2019 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting delivered an abundance of original scientific content and educational programming for neurosurgeons and trainees alike. Linda Liau, MD, PhD, MBA, FAANS, delivered an inspiring and memorable Ronald L. Bittner Lecture on the trajectory of her career in bringing advances in immunotherapy from the bench to the OR. The scientific sessions were focused on areas of controversy in brain tumor surgery. Drs. Dunn, Brastianos, McDermott, Morcos and Couldwell headlined a session on the practice of precision medicine in meningioma patients. Drs. Cahill, Watts, Berger and Hadjipanayis spoke on how they thread the needle to provide maximal safe resection of complex gliomas. The program was anchored by 406 abstract submissions related to the care of brain tumor patients and the 37 top submissions were presented in an oral format. The organizers of the AANS 2019 scientific program look forward to the continued success of the Tumor Section scientific program at CNS 2019, AANS 2020 and beyond!
