Research, Education and Fellowship Committee Mentorship Program

The first annual ASSFN mentorship program was a success with seven graduates. We obtained feedback surveys with glowing praise of everyone’s contribution to the webinars, which we have recorded and put behind the firewall as a member benefit. We have updated the webinar topics for 2019-2020 based on feedback. There was a suggestion to allow the mentor/mentee contact to be more free-flowing, rather than prescriptive. Further, mentors asked for a list of potential topics to discuss, which we have provided but welcome feedback on as it was neuromodulation heavy.

This year, we have 10 enrollees. We graciously thank ASSFN board members and fellowship directors for sending their fellows our way. We also thank our mentor volunteers for taking time out of their busy schedules. This year I have asked Vibhor Krishna, a young faculty at OSU, to help co-direct the program. He was a huge contributor to the program last year, is extremely responsive and helpful. I will continue the administrative management and will direct two of the webinars, while he will direct the other two. We have had our first webinar with great success. Undoubtedly, we will have faculty cancellations for the webinars and hope we can count on the ASSFN board and education committee to fill in as needed.
